you & me
"You and Me” Is an 8 meter high sculpture of two people- a man and a woman, standing in front of each other, one on each edge of a 20 meter long beam. The beam acts as a seesaw, moving the figures up and down, taking 8 hours to complete each movement. At mid day the beam is leveled with the ground.
“You and Me” is about time and relationships. It illustrates the constantly changing balance between two people, power dynamics and vulnerability of relationships. The sculpture was made in the hope of becoming a meeting point for couples, which it indeed turned out to be.
Local worker of the buildings surrounding the square where the sculpture stands say that when the figure of the man is at their window, they know it’s time for them to go home.
